FishLakes ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data when you use the FishLakes mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and display name via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. We do not store your Apple or Google passwords.

Location data: With your permission, we use your device's GPS location to show nearby lakes and to geo-validate catch posts. Location data is used in real time and is not stored beyond what is necessary to complete a request.

Catch photos: When you post a catch, you upload a photo. We store this image to display it in lake feeds and leaderboards.

Catch data: When you log a catch, we store the lake location, estimated weight (AI-generated), date, and your username. This information is visible to other users on the lake's community feed and leaderboard.

Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

Usage data: We may collect anonymized usage analytics (screens visited, features used) to improve the Service. This data is not linked to your identity.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the FishLakes Service
• To display nearby lakes based on your location
• To validate catch posts are within proximity of the claimed lake
• To generate fishing forecasts for your area
• To manage your subscription and process payments via Stripe
• To display your catches on community feeds and leaderboards
• To send account-related communications (if any)

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
• Stripe — payment processing
• OpenAI — AI-powered fish weight estimation from catch photos
• Tomorrow.io / Open-Meteo — weather data for forecasts

Each third-party provider has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Catch posts and leaderboard entries are retained for the life of the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for location access at any time through your device settings

6. Children's Privacy

FishLakes is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), JWT-based authentication, and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
